Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Questers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
